Rooted in Story

Nourishing Circles began with a simple question, How do we keep wild blueberries spray-free?

At first, the answer seemed straightforward. Support growers who choose a different path. Create products that celebrate the fruit. Help people understand the value of what they are eating. But every answer led to another question. How do we keep wild blueberries spray-free while ensuring farmers are paid fairly? How do we create markets that support regenerative practices? How do we help local food reach local tables? How do we keep farmland farmed? Over time, we realized these weren't separate questions. They were all connected by a deeper one, how do we nourish the relationship between people and land?

That question sits at the heart of everything we do.

Nourishing Circles is an Indigenous-led social enterprise rooted in the belief that healthy land nourishes healthy people, people build strong communities, and communities become stewards of the land. What began with wild blueberries has grown into a broader commitment to supporting food systems that nourish people, land, and community. Today, we work alongside farmers, food producers, chefs, retailers, educators, and community partners to create pathways that increase the value of local food, strengthen regional economies, and reconnect people to where their food comes from.

Our products are one pathway. Our partnerships are another. Community initiatives, food education, regenerative agriculture, and future projects such as Hidden Star Commons are all part of the same circle. Each begins with relationship. Each asks how we can create conditions for people and land to thrive together.

As Nourishing Circles grows, our mission remains the same, to co-create pathways that nourish people, land, and community.

The Story Behind Our Logo

Nourishing Circles Farmstead logo featuring wildlife, trees, and nature-inspired symbolism.

Owl first entered my life in 2018 and became a teacher of perspective helping me learn to see what is often unseen, to hear what is unheard, and to walk through life and business with greater awareness and discernment.

Caden was born under Mountain Lion Spirit: curious, courageous, observant, and deeply connected to the land around him.

When we arrived in Nova Scotia, we encountered someone whose spirit reminded us strongly of Bear , grounded, protective, and deeply rooted in this territory. Through that connection, we were introduced to the beloved Earthstars (wild blueberries), which immediately captured my heart.

The Earthstars felt like tiny messengers of wonder and trust reminding us to remain connected to humility, stewardship, and the living stories held within the forest floor.

Together, these symbols became the foundation of our logo and the spirit of Nourishing Circles Farmstead. Every part of our logo carries a piece of the journey that brought us here.

Our Mission

To co-create pathways that nourish people, land, and community. We believe healthy land nourishes healthy people, people build strong communities, and communities become stewards of the land. Through food, partnerships, education, and community initiatives, we work to strengthen the relationships that support thriving local food systems and resilient communities.

Our Vision

We envision a future where people are deeply connected to the land that nourishes them, where farmers and food producers are fairly valued, and where communities are empowered to participate in building a more regenerative and resilient food system.
